Women in India have been facing inequalities in many fields for decades. Our 'Sujag' initiative has been launched to awaken and inspire women in India to live their best lives. This platform provides vocational training to women in making creative, recycled and sustainable handicrafts to be sold. Hence, enabling these women to be independent and empowered.
Most of the goods are crafted from unused or discarded materials and turned into very useful pieces. Made with love and care, these bags and sleeves are of standard size and come with a zipper or button close. Laptop bags and sleeves at ‘Sujag’ are made from discarded clothes which have been fully sanitized and decorated for a great look. Scarves: Colorful and definitely a style statement, the scarves made by the skilled women of the ‘Sujag’ campaign are congenial in their own way to carry. Made from silk, cotton and synthetic wool, these scarves are available in various varieties. Some are beautified with the art of ‘tie & dye’, handblock printing or exquisitely hand painted. Others are decorated with delicate embroidery or knitted with care. The purchase of these scarves are a great support system to keep up the work done by our women team. Paper Mache Crafts: Going back to our basics has recently spruced up the craft of paper mache. Deriving the name from a French word which translates as ‘chewed paper’, paper mache art does require the texture of paper used to be sluggish and pasty for the best outcomes. Several craft items made of paper pulp obtained from paper waste from various sources are delicately made and decorated, giving an unbelievably beautiful piece of art.Our skillful women artists design each piece with utter diligence. Several items made include bowls, decorative vases, dolls and idols, photo frames, pen stands, wall hangings, earrings and even jewellery boxes, etc.From being hand painted to stick ons and lace work, these items are decorated tastefully to gel up with your home setting. Rugs and Floor mats: Keeping in view the ecstasic environment of each home, our well trained women artists hand make beautiful rugs and floor mats. These are made from several pieces of discarded cloth and fur items, combined together delicately to produce a state of art item. The materials used for creation are segregated, washed and sanitized, sometimes bleached to match the complementing materials and sewn or woven together. Few pieces stand out from the other with carefully and colorfully done borders and stitching for an eye catching effect. Each piece is made to be washed or vacuumed to be reused for a longer time. Rugs are perfect for kids' play area, coffee table and bedside area while floor mats are suitable for entryways but not inside the wash rooms.
Tea Coasters: Beautifully painted and decorated tea coasters are our best seller! These are tastefully made by our skilled women artisans from wood, hard board, paper mache and other discarded items. Available in sets of 6, these coasters are perfect to brighten up your tea gatherings and create a statement of art effect to whoever sees them.
